Special Teaching Method

A) Proper Posture. Emphasis on proper posture such as holding the instrument, bowing, and finger placement is important for proper growth. This emphasis allows students to learn the instrument while not feeling “too tired” or “uncomfortable.” This emphasis also assures positive growth in playing the instrument without injury.

B) Orchestral Music. Mark provides instruction on gaining skills and developing a good background in orchestral music that is beneficial in playing in symphony orchestras.

C) Solo Music. Of course, each student will learn solo pieces that can be later demonstrated in future recitals. Performing in recitals is important so that students can develop skills in playing in front of others while eliminating distractions such as nervousness.

D) Emphasis on Technique. Technique is important to learn so that students can continually progress. This includes the fundamentals such as vibrato, shifting, proper bowing etc. to produce a good quality tone.
